JULY/AUGUST 2009
We are busily preparing the ponies for the upcoming show season.
We have decided to sell our 2 lovely geldings Owendale Mr Perkins & Stenbury Park Legacy. Both ponies will only be sold to the best of show homes.
Creswell Cadenza has been sold to a fantastic Home and now resides on the NSW South Coast with Simone King. We wish Simone all the best with this lovely filly.
We prepared 2 foals for the 2009 NSW All Breeds Foal Show on behalf of the Osory Stud. The Palomino Colt "Osory Rawhide" was awarded The Section A Championship with "Osory Seren" sashed Reserve Champion. "Rawhide was awarded the Supreme Championship on the day uneruge Sue Ritchie from Victoria. "Seren" has remained with us for preparation therough the spring.
JUNE 2009
June 18 was the saddest day for us with the loss of both Stenbury Park Siaradus & Owendale Carolina. Carolina eventually succumbed to the dreadful illness Laminitis and after months of around the clock care, we knew the time had come when we could do no more and Jessie was telling us in her own gentle way that she had also had enough Her only foal is the aptly named Stenbury Park Legacy whom we look forward to showing in the Spring.
Siaradus also suffered from laminitis but a few months back suffered a mystery hock injury of which we had no idea how it could have occurred and again after several months of care and knowing that ponies cannot live on 3 legs forever, We decided to let them go together as they had always lived together and were the best of friends with the most beautiful of natures. We will certainly miss our girls who even till the end never once laid an ear back in anger or resentment.........
We would like to thank Fred Riley for his help & support on this sad day in the history of our now very small stud......
On a brighter note, we have been preparing Osory Seren and Osory Rawhide for the upcoming NSW All Breeds Foal Show for the Osory Stud in Mudgee NSW. At the recent Central West Foal Show held at Bathurst, Rawhide won a very strong Colt Class and was awarded Reserve Champion Section A Exhibit. Seren placed 3rd in a class of 10+ fillies.
Owendale Mr Perkins is continuing to improve and develop as a fantastic saddle pony. We are also breaking in Woranora Prima Donna and will hopefully have her out under saddle in late spring.......
APRIL 2009
SYDNEY ROYAL - WHAT A SHOW!!!!
We exhibited 5 ponies at the 2009 Sydney Royal Easter Show and can honestly say we had the best show ever. Angel Park Merlin cemented his place in the record books by winning his 4th Welsh Mountain Supreme Championship and his 3rd overall Supreme Welsh Exhibit receiving the prestigious Nattai Trophy. There were a few tears as we had decided that the 2009 Sydney Royal could well be his last. Merlin is unbeaten at Royal Show level and I am sure this will be a feat that will not be beaten for some time and will not be forgotten for many years.
Woranora Prima Donna was shown fantastically by Megan Wansbrough from Tasmania to win her class and be sashed Reserve Champion Welsh Mountain Pony Mare or Filly. Paris has had a fantastic 12 months which has also included 1st & Reserve Champion at the NSW All Welsh and Supreme Champion Exhibit at the 2009 National Stud Pony Show beating Merlin & another multi Royal champion and 1/2 sister in Woranora Pandora. We cannot wait to break our little "dark horse" in and start campaigning her under saddle.
Owendale Mr Perkins and his very capable rider Morgan Gray competed at their first Royal Show together under saddle. after completely disgracing himself in his Novice Show Hunter Pony Hack ne 14hnds moving from 3rd to 8th, he redeemed himself by placing 2nd in a very strong Open Show Hunter Pony Hack 12-13hh Class . He placed 5th in his Led Welsh Gelding class and then followed with a blue bow in his ridden Welsh class. Few would believe that Mr Perkins has only been broken in for approximately 10 months and did us all proud outworking ponies that have been competing for many years.....
Llangollen Top Notch attended his first Royal and was also shown by his breeder Megan Wansbrough and placed 2nd in his colt class to the eventual Reserve Champion Stallion or Colt "Armanii Park Peter Pan". Creswell Cadenza decided Sydney Royal was not for her this year and decided to have some fun entertaining the crowd much to the delight of group of "hackies" watching her in the crowd. She placed 4th in a very strong Filly under 2yrs.
We would like to thank our close friend Sharon Rae who worked like a slave to help get the team ready (as she does every year!!) and Megan Wansbrough for helping on the showing side. Photos of our memorable show will be posted once available.......
MARCH 2009
Creswell Cadenza attended Canberra Royal for the Buckskin classes and placed 2nd in her Buckskin Filly class......
FEBRUARY 2009
February finished off with Luddenham Show which was held on Saturday 28th. The Welsh classes were very well supported with some lovely ponies shown. Our team had a very successful day with the new kid-on-the-block "Llangollen Top Notch" being sashed Champion WM Stallion or Colt and Supreme Welsh Exhibit. "Creswell Cadenza" won her class and was awarded Reserve Champion WM Mare or Filly & Champion Buckskin Mare or Filly. "Owendale Mr Perkins" won his class and was sashed Reserve Champion Welsh Gelding.
Creswell Cadenza was awarded Champion Filly & Supreme Champion Junior Buckskin Exhibit at the recent Coloured Spectacular held at Luddenham Showground which made the day worth it considering the extreme heat conditions.
Stenbury Park Legacy is now completely healed since being gelded in late January and we are looking forward to getting him in his Junior Welsh & Buckskin classes.
JANUARY 2009
The Southern NSW Branch of the APSB held it's Annual Pony Show on January 18. Llangollen Top Notch was awarded Champion Welsh Mountain Pony Stallion or Colt, Supreme Champion Welsh Mountain Pony & Best Yearling of the Show. Not bad for only his 2nd show in NSW. Creswell Cadenza was awarded Champion Welsh Mountain Pony Mare or Filly.
2009 kicked off for Stenbury Park at Albion Park Show (11/1). Llangollen Top Notch attended his fisrt Show since arriving in NSW and was awarded 1st Place in the class for Welsh Mountain Pony Colts. Creswell Cadenza also won her class for Welsh Mountain Pony Fillies and was awarded the overall Welsh Mountain Pony Championship along with Reserve Champion Buckskin Exhibit.
DECEMBER 2008
The year has come to an end on a high note for Stenbury Park with Creswell Cadenza being sashed Supreme Exhibit at the 2008 Buckskin National beating many different breeds and types. Photos will be posted when they become available.
Angel Park Merlin was awarded Champion Welsh Mountain Pony Stallion, Champion Led Open Pony Hack and much to our delight, Supreme Champion Led Open Exhibit at the recent National Capital Horse Show held in Canberra.
LLangollen Top Notch is aclimatising and settling in nicely after his 4 day trip from Tasmania and we are looking forward to campaigning him in the new year.
We will savour the few weeks break before the 2009 Shows begin with Bowral Show being held in the first weekend of January..
We would like to wish our horsey friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy & Safe New Year........
NOVEMBER 2008
The National Stud Horse & Pony Show was held on November 1st & 2nd. We had en extremely successful show with "Angel Park Merlin" sashed Champion WM Stallion. The stand out and star of the day was definately "Woranora Prima Donna" who was awarded Champion WM Filly, Best WM Youngstock, Supreme Champion Welsh Mountain Pony whic was then followed by Best Welsh Exhibit. "Stenbury Park Legacy" won his class and was awarded Reserve Champion Welsh B Colt.
We now have a well earned break before the National Capital Horse Show , NSW Youngstock Shows and NSW Buckskin State Show......
OCTOBER 2008
Wow!! what a busy month in respect to Showing our ponies. We spent the October long weekend competing in Bathurst at the Western Regional Welsh Show and the Western APSB Show, we had a very successful weekend with "Angel Park Merlin" winning Supreme in Hand at both shows. "Owendale Mr Perkins" and his rider Morgan Gray had a very successful weekend bring home a bagfull of broad sashes comprising of 2 Champions and 5 Reserve Championships.
The NSW All Welsh followed and our small team did extremely well with "AP Merlin" beating some lovely stallions to bring home the Championship once again, "Woranora Prima Donna" was awarded 1st in her class and Reserve Champion Welsh Mountain Pony Filly, Paris was also sashed the Best Foal Futurity Exhibit for 3 year old ponies. Our homebred "Stenbury Park Legacy" attended his first show and was on his best hehaviour to place 3rd in a very strong Yearling Section B Colt class. This lovely colt certainly turned some heads and we cannot wait for him to mature just a little bit more as he looked very immature compared to his peers on the day. "Owendale Mr Perkins" had a very good show placing highly in some very strong classes with some huge numbers both led and ridden.
Our Tassie clan has grown with the purchase of "Llangollan Top Notch" from the Wansborough family in Tasmania. This lovely striking colt has been lightly shown with success and will arrive on November 13 just in time for the NSW Youngstock Shows. he will be an up-to-height colt that should mature to just under 12hnds and we were very much attracted to his bloodlines that include some lovely ponies whom have been very successful in the showring for Llangollan. We would like to thank both Megan and Robert whom have been an absolute pleasure to deal with......
SEPTEMBER 2008
Where to begin, it has been so long since our last update. Most of the show team are in and being prepared for the upcoming Breed shows. It is always a marathon effort at this time of year to have their coats and little bodies in peak condition for the long season ahead between now & Easter.
"Merlin" will only be campaigned lightly at the All Welsh, National Stud Pony Show and National Capital Horse Show whilst we concentrate on the new baby "Stenbury Park Legacy" in which I am sure Merlin will not mind one bit....
"Owendale Mr Perkins" is proving to be the perfect Gentleman now that he has commenced his saddle career. He has struck up a fantastic friendship with his rider Morgan Gray and they are doing very well at the shows they have attended and is well on his way to being performed for his ridden events at Sydney Royal next year.
"Woranora Pendragon" has been sold to the perfect home with Kim & Kevin Bewley of Silverdale in NSW. We wish Kim and Kevin all the best with Pete and know that he will be loved tremendously........
On the Show front, we have mainly been concentrating on Mr Perkins and his Open Hunter Classes as our Welshis are all performed for Sydney Royal next year. Mr Perkins has been to 4 shows so far and has won his Open at both Leisure Coast & Minto Shows.
Penrith Show was held in late August. Merlin was not on his best behaviour by any means which came as a bit of a shock to both us and many spectators as he is always on his best behaviour but did manage to hold his manners long enough to be awarded Champion Welsh Mountain Pony. Stablemate "Woranora Prima Donna" was awarded Reserve. "Owendale Mr Perkins" was awarded Reserve Champion Ridden Newcomer Riding Pony.
JUNE 2008
Mossvale Show was held on June 8 on what was a typical NSW Southern Highlands Winter Day. We exhibited 2 ponies with great results. "Angel Park Merlin" was once again awarded Supreme Champion Welsh Mountain Pony and Best Welsh Exhibit. "Creswell Cadenza" was awarded the Section A Mare Championship and went on be sashed Supreme Youngstock which made battling the cold day well worth the effort.
Owendale Mr Perkins is coming along nicely and his relationship with his young rider Morgan Gray is growing everytime Morgan jumps on board.
"Stenbury Park Legacy" has now been weaned and is proving to be a thorough little gentleman with all we do with him. We are really looking forward to getting him aout and about in the Spring.
All of our ponies will now enjoy a somewhat short winter break before coming back in to be prepared for the spring and summer shows....
MAY 2008
Owendale Mr Perkins has returned from being broken in by Anthony Mountney who has done a fantastic job.
APRIL 2008
Creswell Cadenza arrived at Stenbury Park on Saturday April 5 and attended Campbelltown Show on the Sunday where she was awarded Supreme Champion Welsh Exhibit from a strong line up of Welsh Champions on the day. Caddy was also awarded Reserve Champion Buckskin Mare or Filly. Her stablemate Woranora Pendragon also won his class and was awarded Reserve Champion Junior Welsh Gelding.
Sydney Royal 2008
Our team for the 2008 Sydney Royal Horse Classic included only 3 of our show team so it was somewhat of a relaxed affair compared to previous years. Both Geldings, Woranora Pendragon & Owendale Mr Perkins placed second in their classes with Woranora Prima Donna also placing second in a very strong Filly 2yrs & under class.
We have purchased the winner of the Filly 2yrs & under being the stunning golden Buckskin Filly "Creswell Cadenza" (Osory Mr Sandman x Creswell Anastasia SOD Djerriwarrh Gumnut) from Janine & Dr Harry Cooper. We would like to thank Dr Harry & Janine for allowing us to purchace "Caddy" and we can't wait to start campaigning her in her Welsh & Coloured classes as she has certainly proved to be real little head turner. Photos will be added when available.

We would like to send a huge 'Hello" to showing identity Cameron Wood who is currently touring the UK and attending the many large shows that many of us can only ever dream of seeing in real life. We have also been told of Cam's fantastic job offer working with the Queen's horses. What a fantastic opportunity. Good luck Cam and we are all looking forward to seeing you when you come home!!! xoxox
We are busilly preparing our team for the upcoming shows. With EI now eradicated hopefully for good, it's all systems go. We will be attending the upcoming All Breeds Purple Show to be held at SIEC which is promising to be a big event, followed by the Central Coast APSB's Youngstock Show to be held at Cooranbong, Sydney Royal will be fast upon us followed by Campbelltown & Hawkesbury Shows. Mr Perkins will attend his frst show under saddle in May, this being the SHC Grand National Qualifier to be held at SIEC.
FEBRUARY 2008
It was great to attend our first show since April 2007. We exhibited at the Hawkesbury & Hills District Hack Associaition Show held at Hawkesbury Showground. This was a very well attended event and very well run by the Committee involved. Angel Park Merlin was awarded the Section A Championship under judge Anthony Mountney, Owendale Mr Perkins attended his first show as a gelding and stood Champion Welsh Gelding. Woranora Pendragon placed 2nd in the under 4yo gelding class. To cap off a successful day, Merlin beat a very strong line up of Arabian Derivatives to win the Championship.
We are now busy preparing a small team of 3 ponies for Sydney Royal and the upcoming shows as well as preparing Mr Perkins for his pending saddle career in May 2008 and we are looking forward to having a saddle pony once again.
NOVEMBER 2007
04/11/2007 - Owendale Carolina gave us a lovely Colt foal on Saturday night 3/11. See Youngstock page for further details.
OCTOBER 2007
Due to the E.I. outbreak, all is quiet at Stenbury Park. Hopefully we will get to some horse shows in early 2008.
We would like to send our condolences to James Parlevliet & Darryl Bishop on the passing of Owendale Bart. Bart was always a favourite of ours and was the reason we purchased Osory Destiny back in 1995. I am sure this legendary little man will live on in his Son and Grandson "Angel Park Merlin".
AUGUST 2007
Owendale Mr Perkins is now gelded and being prepared along with Amaki's De Ja'Vu for the upcoming show season. After a good break we are looking forward to getting out and about in the 2nd half of the year. We will mainly concentrate on the larger breed shows at this end of the year including the NSW All Welsh, National Stud Pony Show, Northern NSW All Welsh Show, the National Capital Horse Show, NSW Buckskin Nationals and the Welsh Youngstock Shows.
APRIL 2007
